My Portfolio
Nuclear Energy Information Service
Nuclear Energy Information Service was the first site I did. When I started, I didn't know anything. I learned Dreamweaver, HTML and CSS Style sheets by working on the NEIS site. I also learned the difference between editing - which I often do on this site - and rewriting, which is needed in places but beyond my scope as webmaster.
I redid the navigation and the page template twice - in fact, a third makeover is long overdue. Here is the current look; here was my first design for NEIS, and here is what the pages looked like when I got there. The fact that examples of all three flavors still exist has to do with this being a volunteer activity ...
Shambhala Meditation Center of Chicago
I have done the Shambhala Meditation Center of Chicago's web site for quite a while. It used to look like this; now there is a new look derived from a design by Blue Mandala in Canada.
The site is actually split across two domains; new look pages are on Shambhala International servers over which I have no control, and other features ( weekly email list tool, member polls, etc. ) are on Arvixe.com servers where I can get stuff done. I would pull everything of the SI servers, but need to interact with their databases ...
Shambhala International
The site was also designed by someone else; I took over maintenence in November 2007.
Management By Design
The main task here was to clean up the site. The pages had broken because over-sized content had broken the table based layout. A little photoshop and some quick editing tuned things up. You can see the site at www.managementbydesign.net
Kaleidoscope Lake
The site at www.kaleidoscopelake.org shows what you can do with just an hour of my time and a $5 web hosting and email package. And sure Netfirms (the customer picked them) puts that graphic at the top, but sometimes planting a flag in cyberspace without spending a fortune is all you need to do.
